Triathlon Bag: the best bag on the market
January 1, 2003

by Lance Phegley

Stop carrying your gear in an old, worn-out gym bag. The RTN Review Board has found the best bag on the market, the Triathlon Bag.

The Triathlon Bag features over 2400 cubic inches to safely and securely stash your gear for your next workout or race - all within a compact 16" x 16" x 6" space. The bag is made of durable Cordura and nylon, with polyester mesh pockets for storage. There are ample pockets both inside and outside the bag providing nearly limitless options on how to store your gear. In fact, according to the company, you can easily fit the following items into the Triathlon Bag at the same time: full- body wet suit, camelbak, running shoes, bike shoes, shorts, bike shirts, pants, towels, socks, goggles, number belt, glasses, helmet, bike gloves, sunscreen, water bottle, energy bars, carbo gels, sandals, swim gear, kick board, anti fog aids, running hat, and a bike pump. The bag unfolds to allow easy access to each and every storage pocket, so loading and unloading is a breeze (no more having to take out nearly every item in the bag to find the lucky pair of goggles lost at the bottom).

The Triathlon Bag faced the RTN Review Board testers recently when two of our testers tried to put all of their gear into one bag for a relay trip. Essentially, they put all the equipment and clothing for two triathletes into one Triathlon Bag. Surprisingly, everything fit very neatly into the bag - with extra space for a couple of RTNs to read during the trip. Once at the race site, the bag could be easily worn as a backpack on the way to the transition, or carried with the shoulder strap (the bag also has rubber handles as a third carrying option). During the race, the bag retains its shape so it stays out of the way, even in a cramped transition area.

The ventilated pockets allow wet gear to dry, while damp clothing can be separated from the dry clothes for after the race. Other neat features include a cell phone holder, money pocket and a fastener for key rings. The Triathlon Bag fits conveniently in the overhead bin on an airplane or you can lock the zippers to check it through. It comes with a one-year warranty against defects in materials or workmanship and is made in the USA.

Order your Triathlon Bag (available in red, black, yellow, or navy) for $89.95 at www.triathlonbag.com.
