Siri Lindley won her third straight ITU World Cup race and Ryan
Bolton won his first Ironman title during multi-sport racing on
Sunday.Also, in Everett, Wash., Greg Watson and Desiree Ficker took the
titles at the Dannon Duathlon series race.
Lindley (Boulder, Colo.), the top-ranked female Olympic distance
triathlete in the world, followed up victories in Edmonton,
Alberta, and Corner Brook, Newfoundland, with a win in
Tiszaujvaros, Hungary, defeating second-place Lenka Radova of
the Czech Republic by 11 seconds.
It was Lindley's third straight victory at Tiszaujvaros, which
had quite a crowd for the event and a difficult 1.5K swim, 40K
bike and 10K run course.
Lindley stayed with a large pack on the technical six-lap bike
course. She came off the bike in 18th and had to make a run
through the pack. She finished in 1 hour, 57 minutes, 16
seconds. Tracy Hargreaves-Looze of Australia placed third in
1:57:24.
Laurie Hug (Ambler, Pa.) had a strong swim and bike, but fell
behind on the run and placed 37th
Australia's Craig Walton won the men's race in 1:45:03. Vladimir
Polikarpenko of Ukraine was second (1:45:32) and Martin Krnavek
of the Czech Republic was third (1:45:51). Doug Friman (Tucson,
Ariz.) placed 50th in the men's race, which had a field of 81
athletes.

In Lake Placid, N.Y., Bolton (Boulder, Colo.) broke his own
course record on the 26.2-mile run, finishing it 2:49:14 and
winning the race (2.4-mile swim; 112-mile bike; 26.2-mile run)
in 8:39:19. Bolton, a member of the 2000 U.S. Olympic triathlon
team, finished second at Lake Placid in 2001 to Steve Larsen.
Canada's Heather Fuhr won the women's race in 9:43:12. Karen
Holloway (Richmond, Va.) was the top finishing U.S. woman in
fourth (10:12:35).

Finally, in Everett, Wash., Watson (Newark, Del.) won his fourth
straight Dannon Duathlon series race. Watson completed the 2-
mile run, 10-mile bike, 2-mile run, 10-mile bike and 2-mile run
in 1:22:50. Chris Tolonen (Seattle, Wash.) was second (1:23:43)
and Travis Kuhl (Carthage, N.Y.) was third (1:25:17).
Ficker (Potomac, Md.), who has struggled with injuries this
season, won her first Dannon race since March, completing the
course in 1:32:10. Andrea Ratkovic, last year's winner at
Everett, was second (1:35:26) and Anne Preisig (Falmouth, Mass.)
was third (1:39:33).
