The race organizing committee of Credit Suisse Powerman Zofingen
have agreed
that the ITU Duathlon World Cup Final should proceed as
scheduled on
September 22nd and 23rd, despite the tragic events in the United
States last
week.
Powerman Duathlon races are held around the globe. Athletes from
over 30
countries will compete in Zofingen peacefully and set a mark of
unified
friendship. The "Spirit of Powerman" is based on the concept
that with
enough courage, skill and hard work, great things can be
achieved.
At Zofingen 2001 the Swiss trio of long distance duathlon world
champion,
Karin Thurig, former Zofingen winner, Olivier Bernhard and
Daniel Keller are
among the favourites. Others expected to perform well are the
just crowned
short distance world champion, Erika Csomor (HUN) and Felix
Martinez (ESP).
