Houston Harriers host masters track meet on August 4

Houston area gulf track meet is back! The Houston Harriers
running club is
hosting the first annual Masters track meet August 4, 2001 at
4pm on the
Rice University track.
The purpose of the meet is to promote excellence in masters
running in the
greater Houston area and the cities in the state. The goal is
to establish a
dynamic and successful masters track meet to position Houston to
attract
national competitors and a national audience.
Olympic gold medalist and 100 meter world record holder Leroy
Burrell along
with Olympic gold medalist and Olympic champion Michelle Burrell
will hand
out the awards for the Houston area Gulf Masters track meet.
Expect to see
this event become the most prestigious and dynamic Masters track
now and in
years to come.
Events will include the 100, 200, 400, 800, mile, 3,000, 4x400
relay, and the distance medley relay. Awards will be presented
