AARP is staging the Tri-Umph! Classic, a 400 meter swim, 20K

50+ population in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. The AARP Tri-Umph!
Classic takes place Sunday, October 14, 2001 at North Lake
College, 5001 N. MacArthur Boulevard in Irving. The first race
starts at 7:30 a.m. The Dallas/Ft. Worth area is one of 7 cities
across America hosting the AARP Tri-Umph! Classic.AARP developed this event, in partnership with USA Triathlon, to
provide a fun and challenging activity for people 50+ of all
fitness levels. AARP Tri-Umph! Classic participants -- from
athletes to couch potatoes -- can prepare for the event with
AARP's eight-week training program led by professional trainers
or use a 12 week individual training guidebook. The training
period for the Dallas /Ft. Worth event takes place July through
October. "We developed the AARP Tri-Umph! Classic with the intention of
bringing the 50+ population together in a challenging, yet fun
event," said AARP State Director, Nancy Snead. "And for people
who don't want to do the swim, bike and run event, join us in
the Fun Run/Walk which is free and doesn't require advance
registration. Either way, both events can put the Umph! into
your efforts to get in shape." To request a registration packet for the AARP Tri-Umph! Classic
