Subject: August Races

Message:
ATTN: Race directors,
As we look back at August we see few if any races in the Houston area. Maybe someone will take note and move a Sept. race up or maybe a new race will find a home.

As I look forward I see few races in the Houston area that are realistic candidates to be rescheduled during August. Steve, with due respect, I believe your looking at a symptom of the much larger problem of a continuing decline of scheduled races over the past several years. Maybe someone or some organization with an interest in the running, cycling and endurance communities will take note and make an honest effort (including looking more closely at what they’ve done or failed to do to arrest this ongoing issue).

I believe the problem is within Houston itself and the surrounding communities are experiencing growth at Houston’s expense. I’m appreciative and excited about the efforts of those South, North and West of Houston. Not only are they adding more races, I believe I’m observing a trend toward a more diverse mix of racing distances.

Silly me Spooner, I forgot that September in Houston comes with an automatic decline in both heat and humidity.

If I was a race director, which I am not, it would be the "Beat tgarr 5K".

Which form of cancer will you be curing? Kind of sounds stupid since you are not a into cancer reasearch. I hope this answer pushes the discussion in the right direction.

Why host a race you couldn't participate in Steve??

I thought you might have something in mind, an old event, distance or something guess not.

The cancer reply is funny, almost as funny as your asking the question in the first place. Not quite as funny as running your mouth on the other thread and then eating your words but close.

I asked a question for race directors. If you want to race, tell me who you are and we will go from there.

Thanks for your enlightening comments. This is not the format for your games. Give me an e-mail address if you would like to continue.

actually you asked a question, not of race directors, but an open ended one. Spooner seemed to give you a pretty good answer which you took and popped off about. The "we" in your first comment seemed to say that you were either a member of a club or thought highly of yourself. Giving you what seems to be to much credit, I thought the former. As such thought you might have a particular race in mind. To use your own words it seems the only race you like to run is with your mouth.

tgarr, please review the original post and I'll give you one dollar if you can find a question there. A question has a (?) after it. The post was directed to race directors, the (we) refers to runners and I wanted to see if there was interest in moving a race to August.
Are you afraid to race someone you don't know? You talk about running one's mouth. I would love to be there for your $100.00 race. I might have a chance to take you after that one.
