I have done many races in clear lake over the years and have been surfing the RTN boards for some time now. I have not seen jay "blasting" runners who post on these boards. Please point them out if you can. If we didn't have the andy stewart's and jay's in the Houston area we would have some pretty boring Saturday and Sunday mornings. Yes they are providing a service to the running community, as does RTN with this board. We are all allowed to have opinions both good and bad but luvtorun seems to only have bad opinions, if he or she really hates all the runs they do stop running them. One other thing, a good majority of the people have enough guts to post their identity on this board. luvtorun just likes to trash runs and stay anonymous I think that says more about this person than anything else.

Since you signed this post anonymous I guess that says more about you than anything else right?

Tgarr You beat me to the call. I was going to say the same thing about anonymous.

As for the race and post race etc. It is a damn shame that the posts are never about the race or the quality of competition. Always about awards and food.

If it is a party you want then go to the Greek fest or Houston International fest. The entry fee is lower and you can probably complain to the event coordinators.

But the last time I checked these are still races that some people take seriously enough to try for there personal best and to beat the competition.

We as a group are lucky there is food and such at the end of the race. The only necessary things needed for a race are a secure course that is the correct distance, water stops depending on the distance run, and some sort of results. THE REST IS JUST BONUS

guess I'm kinda in the middle on this one once a runner. I agree with everything you're saying, I didn't do the race cause I thought 25 bucks was a little steep for me but it is in line with other races. I don't care if we have a big bowl of nothing after the race as long as we have a good race and an accurate course. However, I think Jay and Steve need to chill a little as well.

I took the day off with the intention of running the SC 10 Miler....but then I found out that it cost $25!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To me, that price is way out of line.

The reason I stopped mountain bike/road bike racing was the cost. It is just too dang expensive.

The 20k is running $30, if you're keeping score.

Ok - since Dave is keeping score, the half marathon is $45 for early registration and $75 to register at the expo and the marathon is $65 for early and $100 at the expo.

Based on this, the 10 miler and 20K are bargains.

The reason the price is so high is so they will be able have all the garbage to give away after the race.
They (HP Houston Marathon management) charge this price so that they can continue to give out the garbage that people like mass Gallowwalkers, Houston Fat, and any other group of in training for the FatCityMarathon would like such as Taco's Beans and those wonderfully pitiful T-shirts.

Not sure I'd go as far as once a runner, but you can't comapre the marathon price and the ten miler, as you get much more for your buck with the marahon than you do with the ten miler. That was the point of luvtorun in the first place I think. Jay still waiting to find out more about the benifits the runners got by it being an rrca championship.
