Balance Bar 24-Hour Adventure Race navigates through New York

The BALANCE BAR(R) 24-Hour Adventure Race Series continues with its second of three races nationwide, in the New York area, on October 8, 9, 10. Racers will compete in a prologue on Friday, October 8th at the Intrepid Air and Space Museum in New York City. On Saturday morning, October 9th, racers will begin a 100+ mile course, trekking, mountain biking, kayaking, and navigating through Ringwood State Park and other parks in Northern New Jersey and Southern New York.

"We're excited about adding the prologue stage of the event for the first time, which will give racers a new twist to the adventure," said Race Director Jonathan Denison. "With the Intrepid and the skyline of Manhattan as a backdrop, teams will take on a course that can be best described as a 'circus'."

On Saturday, October 9th, the Balance Bar Spectator Expo will be feature the Balance Bar 5-mile Twilight Fun Run at Ringwood State Park. The Twilight Fun Run is no charge to enter, but a $5.00 donation will be taken for the Alec William Nelson Memorial Playground at the Helping Hands Rescue. The BALANCE BAR(R) 24-Hour Adventure Series is offering a total of $110,000 in prize money between the individual events and overall Series offerings. BALANCE BAR(R) 24-Hour Adventure prize money is awarded in the coed elite divisions only, prize money is awarded for first through fifth place contestants of each race as well at the end of the Series.

Competitor divisions include: Coed Elite, Coed, Male, Female, Corporate and Masters Coed (combined age of 120+). Adventure racing disciplines featured in the BALANCE BAR(R) 24-Hour Adventure include: mountain biking, trekking, kayaking, canyoneering, ropes and navigation. The BALANCE BAR(R) 24-Hour Adventure will also stop in Los Angeles, November 20-21, for the Series finale and national championship.

Coed Elite teams competing for the BALANCE BAR(R) 24-Hour Adventure Series championship must compete in all three events. Non-elite teams competing for the BALANCE BAR(R) 24-Hour Adventure Series championship must compete in two of three events, including the Series finale in Los Angeles, November 20-21.
